Epson PowerLite LCD Projector, $999.95, 0.00% raised
Epson PowerLite LCD Projector
Single Unit Why I need this:
Do not have one in my classroom at this time. I feel it is imperative and essential to have a projector in the art classroom to be able to inspire, encourage, and engage students by showing visual examples of art works as well as a multitude of other possibilities. There are none available for me to use at my school.

Class Information:
Class Description:
Predominately African-American children, but increasingly becoming more diverse. Many children from Puerto Rico, Napal, Nigeria, have been attending our school and my art classes. I love the diversity of children because with diversity comes a wealth of history in the arts from these different cultures. It is so interesting to learn from these students and to see each student share how they express themselves through the visual arts in numerous ways through a variety of mediums. I love it!
Position:
Secondary Art Teacher
Needs:
My art classes need resources and materials that will prepare them for future educational experiences whether in the visual arts or other areas. In the past few years I have been slowly introducing my students to digital photography. We have been fortunate enough to borrow cameras from the library received through a grant and the rest I have had to have bake sales in order to raise money for materials like batteries, photo paper, ink for my one printer, as well as to take my students on field trips. I continually try to apply for various grants to raise money for supplies. In order for our school to be more current in photography my classes would need laptops for students to use in the classroom, the newest software to manipulate photographs, like Photoshop Elements. I always need ink for the printer and would love a class set of cameras so we don't have to borrow the libraries every year. Matt cutter for framing photographs, matts, foamboard.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that the visual arts can be taught to all students and learned by all students. It is an essential part of the school curriculum and can be easily integrated into any core subject. It is imperative that children are able to express themselves and to be allowed to grow creatively throughoout their daily lives.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach art because it is my passion and I want to share that with children as well as adults. The arts surrounds our everyday lives and I feel that it is one of the most essential components of a child's education.
