Although my classroom has a small number of students, the resources available to these students is inadequate. Everything in the classroom is provided by the teacher, as the students rarely bring in their own pencils and notebooks. Anything extra, such as construction paper, crayons, glue, scissors, etc., have to be bought by the teacher. This makes doing science experiments difficult, as there are limited supplies to do very creative, engaging activities. Our library is lacking in material for 2nd grade, and most of my students have finished the on-level books in our classroom and are anxious for more to read. The money donated to my classroom would go toward supplies for science experiments, materials to complete interesting, hands-on lessons in math and reading, and a good supply of books that children will be able to take home and enjoy.
