I teach art to students in kindergarten through grade 6. Our student body changes frequently throughout the year (always getting new students and losing others to moves). We have students from many different countries at all levels of English language learning. We have students of all ability levels. All students attend art classes.
Position:
Art Teacher
My Philosophy:
I strive to present an integrated art curriculum to my students - one that exposes them to many different media and makes connections to their lives outside of my classroom and the school. It is important for students to have different options for expressing themselves - visual art provides many opportunities for students with all the different media, from digital computer and camera technology to paint to ceramics to pencil to collage. I hope that my students leave my art program with an increased appreciation for how art surrounds them, how it impacts their lives and how they can use it to express themselves and their experiences.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I enjoy watching students learn, especially over time watching them grow as students and humans. They learn more about the world around them and more about themselves each day. I teach art because I believe that it is a unique way for students to express themselves. Students who believe they do not have art abilities learn that they are creative, that they have valuable ideas and that they are able to express themselves.
