I teach art to all students in our school from grades one through six. We explore the visual arts through various interdisciplinaryconnections and various media. I love to travel and have been the receipient of many grants and fellowships. Most recently I went to Turkey, one of twenty four educators from all over the USA, selected for this Fellowship! What an amazing experience for both myself and my students as I integrated my travels into my classes. Check out our school web page and you will see the International Grants and Awards I have received.

Mystudents have the opportunity to learn about far away places as I blog my journey for them, sending descriptions and photos along the way, allowing them to be more globally connected!
On Wednesday I have a photography club that meets weekly for an hour after school as we learn about both still and digital photography. The students are in the 5th and 6th grade and have such a love of photography and technology.
Needs:
I have a great need for technology both in my classroom and in my photography club! I am presently videoconferencingwith a teacher in another town as our students learn all about Islamic Art and how it connects to the Islamic religion and the culture. We are team teaching our students as we present lessons on art, math and social studies, very exciting. You might want to check out our blog: www.Turkishexplorations.blogspot.com
Iam looking for greater ways to expand the technology in my classroom, to expand our learning. My classroom needs a smartboard and projector for this project. Presently I borrow one of the two smartboards that we have when I am videoconferencing. Our school only has one projector for the entire school. Our photography club is in great need of cameras, both still and video as well as a computer with the capabilites to create movies. We are presently working on programs like powerpoint and creating some awesome presentations but we don't have the equipment needed to create more sophisticated programs and films.
My Philosophy:
It is so important for our students to keep up to date on technology and the connections it can make with other curriculums. We all love learning and we learn so much from each other! Schools must invest to keep our students growing with technology as members of the 21st century.
