Class Description:
This year my class is made up of delightful children who get along and are eager to please. I have very supportive parents. There are seven identified special needs students and four additional students who receive modifications. I have four students who receive services from the speech pathologist, one with a communications disorder. Four specials needs students from another fifth grade classroom join my class for language arts instruction each day.
Position:

Needs:
I am part of a PATINS grant team for my school that provides assistive technology equipment for my school. We get to ask for technology equipment, but don't know what we will receive from our wish list. We have received interactive whiteboards, scanners, LCD projectors, mobile writing labs, and various software over the past two years. We now need the gap fillers, such as the MP3 players, listening centers, portable storage devices, etc. that will make the technology more usable in our classrooms.

About Me:
I have been teaching for fifteen years in grades three through six. I absolutely love my job. I am the single mother of two beautiful daughters.
College and Degrees:
I attended Indiana State University for my undergrad studies and have recertification credits from Indiana University at Ft. Wayne and Indiana Weslyan University.
Activities:
I am on my school's steering team for the Indiana Student Achievement Institute. I facilitate our building based General Education Intervention team. I am the Site Director for our After School Tutoring Program. I serve as the mentor for the Differentiation Team. I mentor the new teachers in the building.

Interests:
Improving education, not losing my mind, raising the best children I can, being a good person, being happy.
Employment History:
I have taught middle school science in Churubusco, Indiana and then elementary grades 3-5 in South Whitley, Indiana.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love being a teacher. I can't imagine a more fulfilling job. There is always more to be done, no two days are ever the same. I hate being bored and that is just not possible in this profession.
