My classroom is in a small alternative school in Yakin County. We offer a transition program for middle grades students with moderate to severe learning disabilities.

We could really use a digital camera in the classroom for students to use in creating expressive work that use the students abilities. All of my students have difficulty with written expression and comprehension. I have found that activities including pictures can really open the doors to these students imaginations! We have competed a few activities already that could have been greatly enhanced with a digital camera... for example, our classroom cook book. Each student submitted a recipe of their choice. It would have been great to have been able to add digital pictures of them preparing their own dishes. Another idea is to make a staff directory, for students to learn names and faces. Since our school does not yet have a library, we have limited resources for older students who are not reading on grade level. Creating our own resources could greatly enhance our program.
