I teach in a TITLE ONE school with an extremely high rate of free and reduced lunch. Many of my students are considered low socio-economic. I currently have 7 boys and 11 girls in my classroom. My classroom also serves as the inclusion room for first grade. This means that ESE students are included in my room to get the best possible education without being pulled out for a “special” class.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
There are always needs in a TITLE ONE school, but because of the cost associated with technology, it would be at the top of the list.
My Philosophy:
I decided to teach at a young age. I love the students, and enjoy watching them grow throughout the school year. I try to provide a safe, encouraging, and fun environment for my students. Unfortunately, I spend more time each day with these students than their own parents. I choose to use my time wisely to instill good learning habits and provide quality instruction to them. I don’t teach for the money, or the summers off, I teach because I LOVE IT! For many of my students, I am all they have fighting and cheering for them!
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am happily married to my husband. When the husband came along, I also gained three children, a set of twin girls and their older brother. I am currently in my 8th year of teaching, and love every minute of it!
College and Degrees:
I graduated with an AA degree in Libral Arts from Polk Community College, Winter Haven, FL. I graduated from Warner Southern College with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I then decided to go back to school, and achieved my MA in Reading degree from the Univeristy of South Florida.
Activities:
I am busy with my family. Having three teenagers puts on three different busy schedules! I would not trade it for anything though. The twins are involved in softball that keeps us traveling to ball fields a lot!
Favorite Books:
Charlotte's Web - There are so many life lessons that can be learned from that one book!

Favorite Quotes:
"Honey is sweet, "and so is knowledge, but knowledge is like the bee that made that sweet honey, you have to chase it through the pages of a book." (taken from "Thank you, Mr. Falker" )"

Employment History:
I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade, but I am currently teaching first grade.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach to instill lifelong learning into the minds of students. I teach because I love putting a smile on their face. I teach because I LOVE when they finally "GET IT"! I teach to provide a safe place for many that need it. I teach to be a role model. I teach because I LOVE what I do!
