This class serves the most cognitively impaired students from our High School. We teach functional literacy , math, science, health, life skills, and technology as part of a community based instruction model.
Position:
Community Based Instruction Special Education
Needs:
We need either laptops or another computer, but the best thing would be a smart board so that all the students can interact instead of being passive unless it is their turn on our tablet or our class computer. We currently use one computer with a small screen for all activities, including dance, reading, and simulations.
My Philosophy:
All students can learn, my students are being prepared for a life in the community that will be semi independent. These students should be able have access to the same technology as students in the regular curriculum. I have seen the difference technology can make in a lesson.
