Our school is best described as a cross between a one room school house and home schooling. We currently have 10 students enrolled. They range in grade from third to a high school senior! We learn to gether as a whole group, small group and the students also receive one on one instruction. Curriculum is what we like to refer to as "child centered". The backbone of what we teach is the IN standards for each grade level. Then we consider each child's needs, abilities and interests. A plan for each child is built around these areas. Each student plan is flexible and subject to modification, if needed.
Position:
teacher/board member
Needs:
The technology we have currently is limited to say the least! We have 2 computers from the 90s, (Can you say dinosaurs?) but students are able to use the word processors and we do have a working printer. Our students are very interested in technology. We would like to use student produced "movies" to show what they have learned. Up to date computers and a movie making program would delight all of us.
My Philosophy:
Technology is all around us and it is a part of most children's every day life. We want our students to have every opportunity to use and explore technology to show not just what they know but who they are.
