13 boys, 10 girls - Special Ed included - wide variation in reading & math ability. A very compassionate group of 4th graders currently writing penpals in Uganda, Africa who have contracted the HIV virus.

My Philosophy:
The early years of any student are the most formative. As a man in the early grades my influence can be monumental. I still remember the comment of a 1st grader when I showed up to substitute in his school..."Look mom...a daddy teacher!" It will always be a defining moment in my teaching experience. One of my early teaching assignments was a private school where I saw four 1st graders graduate from high school! Imagine I was with these kids for 12 years and this also deepened my compassion and desire to impact the lives of children.

Why Do I Teach?:
For the last 32 years as a teacher, I believe the primary motivation to teach comes from an insatiable desire to learn. I can't see enough, read enough, learn enough or dream enough...this motivation drives me to impact the lives of my students.
