I feel lucky enough to teach every child in my school! I am able to develop relationships with students that can last several years. This gives me the opportunity to create lessons and units that reflect not only what I think is important to learn, but what I know can spark their interest. As a part of the Little Kids Rock program, we were able to receive 27 classroom guitars which are changing the way we think about music education! In addition, my students study music from other cultures, varying genres and styles and are moving and responding to music aesthetically.
Position:
Music
Needs:
The music program in our school is brand new which has been an exciting challenge as a teacher. I am working to develop a guitar club and choir, both of which would be after school clubs. Our needs are varying, but never sparse and anything that can be contributed is greatly appreciated!!!!

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach music, because I believe it can be an invaluable outlet for students who might otherwise have trouble in an academic setting. I believe every child has something important to share which can be expressed creatively through music. My goal is to teach students how to have a lifelong relationship with music.
