Greene Central School
Hometown:
Leeds, Maine
Class Information:
Room Number: 229
Students per Class: 19
Class Description:
I teach reading, 'riting, and 'rithemetic to a class of about 20 students along with learning about the world around us.
Position:
Second Grade Teacher
Needs:
A wall mounted, short-throw, interactive projector is the answer! Students and I no longer trip over cords. I don't have to constantly readjust or orient the projector, and the bright light with annoying shadows are all are gone. I pursued this technology knowing that I would fund it if necessary. I will be retiring soon, and wanted to be able be able to use this technology in the last few years of teaching.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been a teacher now for about 20 years. A few years ago I was the technology teacher here at Greene Central School for 5 years. I am so happy to be back in the classroom. I really enjoy working with smaller groups of children and teaching them to read and write and do math. I also love to teach science. Along the way I like to use technology tools when possible. I am always looking for the next gadget and who knows what this year will bring? Besides loving my gadgets, I have a masters degree as a Literacy Specialist and have 21 credits toward a technology degree. I don’t know that I’ll necessarily complete that degree, but who knows? I love learning as much as I love to teach. Even though a lot of emphasis in school will be on the 3R’s of reading ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic, I also love teaching from the science and social studied curriculum. We will be Digging into Earth and Its Past, exploring the Human Body, learning about Astronomy, Animals and Plants, Weather, and Simple Machines. We will also be reading and learning about our community and cultures around the world as well as talking about life in the past and people who were important in our past. I find that second graders love learning all about the world around them.
Interests:
I love to travel and participate in life. I like to learn about places and people by visiting those places. I love to try new things and experience what I can. I love the great outdoors. We boat and camp.
