Oak Ridge High School
Hometown:
Oak Ridge, TN
Class Information:
Room Number: LC 233
Students per Class: 114
Class Description:
My students are teachers! I'm a technology coach helping teachers develop skills and ideas to integrate technology into their classrooms. I also teach an "Integrating Technology" class for the district. The 40 teachers are learning to use MS productivity tools and new resources. So hopefully the things I teach them will eventually impact 1500 or so students!
Position:
Instructional Technology Coach
Needs:
As teachers learn about new things to try in their classroom, like claymation animations and incorporating green screen video into presentations, iPads are needed for them to use with their students. I would like to have a set that teachers and students could "check out" - do fun, creative things with - and return for the next person to use!
Personal Information:
About Me:
I work in the high school I graduated from! Who would've ever guessed that would happen?
College and Degrees:
University of Tennessee, Knoxville M.S. - Instructional Media and Technology Ed.S.- Admininstration and Supervision
Activities:
I enjoy golf, camping, playing with my dogs, and yard work.
Favorite Books:
I like to read murder mysteries.
Favorite Quotes:
"We are all learners - We are all teachers." "If it is to be, it is up to me!"
Interests:
If I hadn't been a teacher, I should have been a vet or an ER doctor. I love to create and work with my hands - crafting, sewing, and power tools.
Employment History:
Biology teacher for 21 years before moving into the current coaching role.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I enjoyed high school so much, and I want to help my school maintain it's history of excellence.
