Class Description:
I have a class of around 18 students that are constantly moving and need experiences that allow for quick changes in between activities. I try to make learning as fun as possible and engage all of the children. I currently have a laptop that I can connect to a projector and we are able to do some activities through this. I also have an Elmo which allows me to save on paper and model for all students to see or participate with during whole group lessons.
Position:
All day kindergarten teacher
Needs:
I am in a rural school district where there is not a lot of money to update and add to technology, especially at my level. I could really use a wall mounted Smartboard to actively engage my little learners and make learning fun for them using technology. I am in a school of about 240 prek-2nd grade students where we currently have 1 Smartboard on wheels to share among ourselves. This is not very easily done, not to mention the board being wheeled and bumped then having to reset it after a child goes up to respond on it. I would also like to have at least one digital camera to use with my class to build into my lessons and allow the students the opportunity to see themselves quickly without having to wait to develop the camera film. It would be nice to have an ipod to use with all the songs we sing and dance to as well.
My Philosophy:
I know I have so much more to offer my students than I have technology to use with them. I attend conferences regularly and try to keep up on the latest free websites and and safe technology media to use with my students, but I know I am only touching the tip of the ice berg in what I could be doing with my students! I know I must prepare my students for their future and using technology would enhance their learning even more.

Why Do I Teach?:
I have taught kindergarten or first grade for the past 23 years and I teach because I love working with young children! Currently I am in my third year of all day kindergarten which allows me to stretch the half day curriculum and add lots of extras in the day. I feel I should be adding more technology as the 'extras' to the all day experience.
