I teach in a low-income community of predominately Latino students, many of whom are English Language Learners. Our school needs technology of all kinds (computers, video cameras, digital cameras, etc.).
My Philosophy:
I believe that all students can learn. Every student deserves the best we can offer, the best teachers, the best technology, and the best resources to enhance the development of the whole child. In my classroom, I use cooperative learning strategies and SIDAE strategies to make history accessible (but not "dumb-ed down") to all my students.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I became a teacher after reading Jonathon Kozol's book, Savage Inequality. I chose to teach as an act of social justice and learned that it is my passion. I love working with young people and encouraging them to become life-long learners and socially responsible citizens.
