Position:
Multimedia Tech Teacher
Needs:
Digital Video Camera
My Philosophy:
I believe there are two basic principles in teaching: engage the student, and challenge the student. Without the thoughtful employment of technology, we neither engage nor challenge our students.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been a technology teacher at Belding Area Schools for 9 years now, this will be my 10th year! When I decided to pursue a career as a teacher I had never considered being a "technology" teacher, but the opportunity fell into my lap. I really enjoy teaching technology. Working with students and computers is challenging and fun. Computers seem to interest most kids to some extent and often times we are learning new things on the computer together. In my video production class we learn "art" of making good video recordings. The students are responsible for producing at least 3 short films. I also supervise the BMS students who produce our morning news. The news is 5 minutes long and includes school announcements, weather reports, sports reports and usually a 2-minute special feature.
College and Degrees:
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in 1995. I pursued my Masters in Elementary Education at Grand Valley State University and finished that degree in 2005. Yearly I take technology classes to keep up with the current trends.
Activities:
I LOVE to travel, see new places and meet new people. I also enjoy to read, watch movies, and participate in outdoor activities! In the summer time I spend a lot of time traveling. Some of the trips I taken on my motorcycle! I have an 1100 V-Star. I have been riding my own motorcycle for 9 years now. This past summer I went to South Dakota and toured the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Custer Park and the Black Hills. I then continued west to Wyoming and went white water rafting on the Snake River, cliff jumping, horseback riding, and visited some hot springs near Jackson, WY. I then drove all the way to the Pacific coast to San Francisco, California. It was an amazing trip!
