Class Description:
I teach a general dance course to K1 through 5th grade which is based on Laban's principles. The younger grades participate in creative movement classes and 3-5 have classes with more structured technique. Allgrades are learning basic yoga poses and stretches. Gamesare a critical part of my ability to engage at all levels.
Position:
teacher
Needs:
Our computer lab is antiquated and if we even had 4 iPads or other tablets, students would be able to build their online portfolios. I am currently taking them to the lab and they are working on their online portfolios, to begin the process of authentic assessment, by creating accounts on the site, edmodo.com.
My Philosophy:
We all learn better by hands-on education and dance/creative movement gives a connection to curriculum in ways that nothing else is able.
