My room is a collaborative village. My students are always busy working in cooperative groups, sharing, discussing and learning in a safe, friendly environment. I have been able to raise the rigor through differentiation in a way that seemed effortless. My students see variability not disability. My classroom contains a SMART BOARD that has allowed me to add an even deeper level of excitement to our learning. When you walk into our classroom you feel like you belong there.
Position:
2nd Grade teacher
My Philosophy:
It takes a village to raise a child. Our classrooms are active communities where opportunities for students are limitless, and expectations are high. This is true for teachers, and students. A teacher cannot do it alone and must rely on his or her colleagues, the parents, and the community to work alongside him or her in the classroom community. Technology allows us to reach students in ways that were not possible in the past. The world we live in changes daily, and we need to equip them with the tools and knowledge to be successful in a digital world.
