The computer lab is a place where teachers and students can use the laptops to complete meaningful activities on a daily basis.
Position:
ITRT - Instructional Technology Resource Teacher
Needs:
The librarian uses a Student Response system called Turning Point. I have used it with students as well, but it's difficult when we are both trying to plan and use it for lessons. I would love to have a set of CPS clickers(ClassroomPerformance System) . This system allows students to use remotes with PowerPoint presentations, digital worksheets, or a paper copy of a quiz/test. Students can answer questions and teachers can see immediate results through class graphs and by running reports.
I would also love to have a SMARTboard in the compuer lab. This type of interactive board would allow students to be involved in lessons in a fun and meaningful way. Programs that are used on a daily basis could be done with a SMARTboard. The tools and resources available through the software would really engage a student and provide new learning experiences which would help to strengthen content knowledge.
My Philosophy:
I believe that all students can learn. They must be given tools to help them succeed as students and later as responsible citizens. I feel it is important for students to learn how to use programs that allow them to be creative and independent. I like to teach skills that can be incorportated into any curricular area for various programs. I love to use engaging tools and a variety of resources when working with students. I want them to understand the content they are learning about and become successful in the future.
