I teach an active group of 6th grade students who crave new things to learn. Many of my students come from broken homes, poverty, and homes where English is spoken as a second language. These students learn beside peers who are middle class. The key to my class however, is not our differences but the fact that we share one thing...the love of figuring things out in Science.
We write about experiences, we create learning situations, we share questions, we debate each other, we learn to think, and we respect other people's opinions.
Nextyear, I will be teaching both 5th and 6th grade Science to students and I am excited about what this will bring.
Position:
Science Teacher
Needs:
I am in need of a projector for my classroom.
I would also love to have a smart board and 7 flip cameras to allow each lab group the opportunity to document their experiments.
My Philosophy:
All students have the right and the ability to learn. My job as an educator is to give every child the motivation and excitement of learning through lessons that have real world applications, require students to think, and engage the students in active learning that requires a defense of their thinking.
