I am a special education teacher that teaches primarily students with Autism. My room is for students in grades 3-5 and are all boys. The students love to read and to practice many of their activities using a variety of strategies.
Position:
Special Education Teacher
Needs:
I would love to use a SMARTBoard in my room, however it is a safety concern for my students to have one of the roaming boards. To fit the needs of my students I would love to have a SMARTBoard mounted on the wall. This will give the students the tactile need to learning as well as integrating technology into their sorting activities.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that all students can and will learn if only there is a teacher willing to have the patience to teach the students what they need. Children with special needs are able to learn, but they need someone willing to look outside the box to teach them. These children are incredibly intelligent and all it takes is for someone to bring out that intelligence. I believe that this is why I was lead into this profession and why I will always be a special educator.
