This year I have the most unique class that I've had of my career - 25 kids with amazingly diverse needs, talents and learning styles. Among my class I have two sight-impaired, three special-education,three gifted, and one English language learner student. I work diligently to use creative and authentic learning activities in my classroom.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
I sincerely enjoy the diversity of my students, but it is often difficult to meet all their unique needs. Technology makes this challenge much easier to meet. Like so many public schools in recent years, our funding has been drastically cut. I find funds for technology just don't exist.
My Philosophy:
Every child can learn in a supportive, loving, exciting atmosphere with adequate support. Teaching is hard work, but the best job you'll ever have. My pet peeve is teachers who complain about their job or kids - they don't belong in the classroom.
Personal Information:
Favorite Books:
Historical fiction, science and history non-fiction, murder-mysteries
Favorite Quotes:
“ Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind the stronger the trees. ” - Williard Marriott
Why Do I Teach?:
I LOVE my job! As a 3rd generation teacher I swore I would never follow in the "family footsteps," but eventually gave into fate to follow my calling. As a mother of a learning disabled child I bring a special empathy and understanding to my special needs kids and parents.
