My classroom consists of 27 third, fourth, and fifth grade gifted students.
Position:
Classroom teacher
Needs:
Due to limited funding at my school, we could definitely use some help in funding for a SMART Board.
My Philosophy:
I believe that every child, even the brightest and best, deserves to be challenged.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am originally from Michigan. When I graduated from college five years ago, I decided to move to North Carolina since there were few job opportunities for teachers in Michigan at thet ime. I'm loving the weather in the winter, but maybe not so much in the summer!
College and Degrees:
I received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. Currently I'm working on my masters in gifted education at the University of North Carolina (Charlotte).
Favorite Books:
In terms of children's books, I love Holes and Elijah of Buxton. Harry Potter is a lot of fun, too.
Interests:
Reading, writing, hiking, travel, working around the house. I like to keep busy.
Employment History:
I have worked at the same school for five years. First I taught just fourth grade gifted students, then third/fourth grade gifted students, and now third/fourth/fifthgrade gifted students.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love working with students. I believe that teachers can make a huge difference a child's life.
