I impart my love of science through my ninth grade biology class and my tenth (thru twelfth) grade survey of science class. The survey class just started a new student/activity based curriculum that I am looking to supplement with some great technology. I am especially interested in computers for the science class since many of the activities assigned use web sites to obtain data, information, USGS Data and online software.
I also use some basic technology in my biology class to supplement the dissections and such. I am especially interested in expanding my students' abilities to complete computer based dissections to replace actual dissections for moral objectors.
Position:

Needs:
computers, digital projectors, digital video cameras, digital cameras, computer dissection programs, computer desks, classroom lab tables, digital white boards, digital balances, and anything else that is science related
Personal Information:
About Me:
I grew up on a small family farm in rural New Tripoli. I fell in love with, collected and raised butterflies from the age of 3. One of my first books was "A Moth is Born". I spent most of my childhood outdoors and developed a strong affinity for environmental studies. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of fishing with my father, planting our orchard, and dissecting a rabbit that was killed in a mowing accident.
College and Degrees:
I went to college for entomology and conservation, but ended up discovering that I had a talent for teaching. I switched to the biology major in my senior year at University of Delaware. I then went to Cedar Crest College for a teaching certification. I have taken several environmental and science related classes through area colleges to expand my knowledge base, but have not yet completed a master's degree.
Activities:
I am currently advisor for the Allen High School Gay Straight Alliance. I would love to have some digital photography equipment to be able to document the events produced by the students.
