An Elmo. I use many primary sources and an Elmo would be an excellent way for students to view and discuss each one together as a class. Students also love to read the writings of their peers. An Elmo, again, would provide the means for all to see the works in progress as well as final drafts. Reading together student work or works of literature/historyalso helps in fluency and reading comprehension . I also use artwork as writing prompts and a large projection of the art would be so inspiring(and save TREES by eliminating copies for everyone!!!!).
Iused an overhead, but I know it is breathing its final breaths and budget is not sufficient to fund an Elmo.
My Philosophy:
"No man can reveal to you aught that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge. The teacher who walks in the shadows of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but of his faith and lovingness. If he is indeed wise, he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind" (Gibran)
