i teach 7&8th art appreciation, art1, advance, Pre Advance Placement, Advance Placement, workforce education Visual Arts, and Art History Pre. AP (next year i pick up Art History AP.)
Position:
art/technology teacher
Needs:
My students work with the local non-profits organizations to create logos, broch., Poster and general print advertising needs for their yearly festivals, concerts, and major events. We do not charge because this process requires the non-profits boards to meet with our students several times before print. My students get "real life" application to contribute to their portfolios. The organizers get free services; they often will list this as educational, which it is, for their grant funding. And thought this would be easier to just "teach" I feel that this process reinforces what education, community, and good ol fashion sharing is all about. It works. Our biggest obstacle is the lack of up to day equipment. My goal is to have a complete graphic lab with in three years. We are on our way.
