Crossroads Second Chance North Alternative School was founded in 2005 to address the needs of chronically disruptive students in metro Atlanta. The staff focuses on the social, behavior and academic development of the student in a variety of ways. Some of these ways include a social and academic life skills course, a mentoring program, mental health and counseling resources, family counseling, parenting workshops, academic service learning projects and active business partner collaborations.
Our school serves a 100% at-risk population, as there is a documented statistical correlation between discipline problems and failure to complete high school. Our student body consists of 53% African-American,24% Hispanic and 14% Caucasian students. 77% of our students are male, and 52% qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Position:
School Counselor
Needs:
We have a strong need for computer equipment in the counseling office to help students locate employment opportunities and learn to write resumes. We also need computers for the classroom along with educational software, posters, markers and paper to help support our academic service learning community projects that all students are required to participate in.
