Teacher; Mentor to Student Teachers and Cooperating Teachers
Needs:
I teach in a very low-income part of my city. The wishes on my wishlist will help them learn how to use technology and encourage them to learn and discover new things.
My Philosophy:
I believe in empowering my students to rise above the challenges of their environment. My goal is to empower them to be self-directed in their learning and in their lives well beyond their year in first grade.

About Me:
I am originally from a small town north of Wichita, Kansas. I became a teacher in urban Wichita because I love working with kids in poverty and believe I can truly make a difference in their lives.

Employment History:
I have worked as a first grade teacher for the past eight years. For the past three, I have also served as a Contact Teacher for Wichita State University's Teacher Quality Partnership Grant, which means I mentor all of the WSU education students and cooperating teachers in my building. Prior to teaching, I worked as a pre-k special education para.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because it truly is my calling. I love working with primary students because they are so excited to learn and discover new things! I also love mentoring student teachers and cooperating teachers in order to further improve the teaching profession.
