Arellanes Elementary School
Hometown:
Santa Maria
Class Information:
Room Number: 5
Students per Class: 40
Class Description:
I have a homeroom class of 30 very enthusiastic 3rd graders but work with 10 additional 3rd graders during the school day who come to me from a 2nd/3rd combination class for English language arts.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
My students love technology and have access to computers in the classroom; however, I would love to take technology to the next level with my students by having access to interactive smart technology!
My Philosophy:
I believe that students are naturally curious, and have an innate desire to learn. When teachers provide engaging and relevant lessons, learning soars. Project-based learning brings education to life for students and provides the best opportunities to integrate technology with education.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I come from a long line of teachers: my grandmother, mom, and stepfather were all teachers. Plus, besides me, my sister and brother teach! I have proudly been teaching for 21 years.
College and Degrees:
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo B. S. Social Science
Activities:
Besides teaching, I also serve as an official for USA Swimming, officiating at swim meets in the Santa Maria area.
Favorite Books:
Harry Potter, Stephen King, and Charlaine Harris Books
Interests:
Swimming Camping Reading Listeningto music
Employment History:
My 21 years of teaching have all been for the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. I have taught 2-8 grades, with most of my experience being in 3rd and 4th grades.
Why Do I Teach?:
I believe that teaching is the noblest of professions because I am entrusted to work with children and as a result directly touch the future. I love working with children! The greatest reward is seeing a child's face light up when they finally get a concept they struggled to learn.
