I am piloting "Bring Your own Device" in my classroom this year and I am so excited about it. Every morning my students start their day by scanning a code into their devices that takes them to our daily mathematical problem-solving question of the day. They work out their answers, take a photo of their work, and post it back onto the app. We spend the remainder of the day using email to ask and answer questions, write and comment on our blogs, practice reading on multiple web sites, take quizzes online, watch videos about science and history, and that is just the start. Technology is a huge part of learning everyday in my classroom.
Position:
Teacher for gifted and intelligent students
Needs:
Unfortunately several of my students do not have the money to purchase their own devices to use in our classroom. I teach in a high poverty area and my students live in a high-gang area. The things my students see on a daily basis brings tears to my eyes and, for many of them, our classroom is the only place they feel safe. They preserve through all the hard times without complaining. They are so deserving to have devices that they can use without having to wait for several other students to use them first. My students are humble, kind, and intelligent. They deserve better then what they have.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that all students deserve a chance for a fair education; however, that is just not the case. Technology is a key ingredient for our future and our youth need to be surrounded by as much technology as possible.

Why Do I Teach?:
Teaching is the best career in the world and I truly believe it is something that I've been "called" to do. I love that feeling when one of my students has learned something that I've taught them. I teach because I want to prepare our youth for the future and that future is technology.
