Class Description:
I have an incredible class full of the brightest lights on the tree - they make every day worth coming to work. It is incredible to see how hard they will work for me and how excited they get when I spring new projects and ideas on them.
Needs:
All we REALLY need is "teamwork". That's my philosophy and it makes for a super class of kids that love working with each other. There are always things we could really use though. We'd love to have a small lap size whiteboard for every student in my class. We'd love to have the equipment needed to start Podcasting our morning announcements. We'd love software that would make digital videos for projects throughout the year. More bookshelves would be awesome too because we can't have enough books in my class! An audiobook collection (professional and homemade) is also a long-range goal for my room.
My Philosophy:
Each day is a new one - treat every child like they are your own. Love what you do or get out of the school. Find a way to teach what students must learn by learning with them because they teach far more than we do. Math makes sense so teach it that way. Hands on means just that - don't be afraid to paint, make a mess, spread out, and sit on the floor. A lesson plan is a map. You are the driver. The road you take may not be on the map so don't be afraid to take a detour. Teach compassion - every child deserves your time.

About Me:
I have been teaching elementary school for 19 years. I walk faster now than I did when I was 22. I value time. I am PTA VP in charge of programs. I recently won $2500 worth of icecream for the staff at my school. I'm married with 2 sons. We are building a house on a large chunk of land - my dream. I can't wait to have chickens running around like I did as a kid!
College and Degrees:
I graduated with a BS in education from Virginia Commonwealth University and then later received an Associate in Technology.
