The wood working shop currently uses a CNC router to help students learn the practical applications of combining computer programming skills with traditional woodworking. Students can rout projects by programming vectors into Shop Bot software, which then transfers that information to a computer controlled router. We are looking to upgrade the control board for this Shop Bot to make it more practical for use in the classroom. This upgrade will make it more precise, extend the longevity of the machine for future classes, and speed up the process allowing for class projects to be completed efficiently during class time.
