My students need to be able to share their reading, writing and math work with each other. This type of collaborative learning atmosphere helps students become more thoughtful about their own work, and encourages others to try reading, writing and math strategies that they see their friends using. Without an ELMO, this kind of sharing and learning would be very difficult because students would not be able to see their classmates' work.

An ELMO document camera will allow my students to project their work on the interactive whiteboard. Their writing, math or reading materials will become large enough for the whole class to see together. The student will then be able to talk about the sentences she added to her writing piece, describe the strategy she used to represent an addition problem or read a selection from an independent book to show others how she figured out a tricky word by thinking about what word would make sense.
