I teach a special needs class at the middle school level - grades 6-8. There are several iPad applications that are very beneficial to my students - everything from learning about emotions to learning phonics and math skills. I have a mixture of students including autistic, intellectually disabled, sever learning disabilities, deaf hard of hearing, and health impaired. I am able to support the teaching of a variety of skills and levels with the applications available. I am hoping to purchase enough for a majority of my students to each have one - 8 ipad 2s from Staples at $269.00 each and 8 otter box covers at $89.95 each. I currently have 10 students on average and the number looks to be the same next year.

Why I Teach: I love working with students of all ages and ability levels. I worked as a student aide while in high school and after high school I was a volunteer in an elementary school. Helping kids to understand how the world around them works and seeing the fascination in their eyes keeps me seeing the world in wonder as well. The light in their eyes when they discover how to accomplish a goal and meet that goal is the best thing in the world!
