Students will be presented with student-generated PSA’s that have been posted on You Tube as an example of expectations. After discussion about the need for student awareness and the dangers that exist on the Internet Superhighway, CIPA laws, and safety awareness, members of the performing arts class will be given guidelines for constructing their own group skits. Once the skits have been written and approved, props and sets will be secured, and students will then rehearse and record their skits. A different PSA will be broadcast each week to bring a message of cybersafety to their peers. Photography club students, after having the same discussions and instruction, will then be utilized as photographers for PSA posters that will be posted throughout the school to enhance student awareness and safety.
Comments
This will allow for our students to have access to flip cameras and point and shoot cameras as a resource they otherwise may not have. Although Cybersafety is a beginning point, the possibilities are absolutely endless.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This will also give students in other community service activities to get involved and make use of the equipment.
Follow-Up
Posters and Videos will continue to be updated annually so that the students can be reminded of these important cybersafety rules. Other PSA's such as dangers of drugs/alcohol use, safe driving, texting, etc.. will be other areas that can be addressed featuring these tools.
