My high school Media Communications course will have each of the 20+ students select a book each quarter from a given category (new adolescent fiction, nonfiction, classics, etc.) and read the book. Then the students will create a 1-1:30 minute trailer advertising the book to their peers. We will then air them on the daily announcements we create in class. This hopefully will encourage others to read in the building. We will check our success based on how many requests for particular books appear in the library after a trailer is viewed by the school. The students will storyboard their ideas, write the scripts, record video and voice overs, edit, produce and air their videos each quarter of the school year. |

Anything that can be donated, we will use!! |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
This encourages kids to read by seeing what their peers recommend and like = the best way to use peer pressure. We could use social studies, areas of nonfiction interest, great scientific reads, whatever we want. |
Follow-Up |
Each quarter we can reair ones from previous quarters as well as add to our library of great book trailers. |
