Objectives: - The learner will utilize voice, tone, mood, temperament, and sound effects to orally interpret African American literature. - The learner will read fluently, paying close attention to author's intent, purpose, and intended message. - The learner will utilize podcasting software to create an interpretive podcast of African American literature. - The learner will gain an appreciation for multi-cultural literature.
Materials: - Selected piece of approved African American literature. - Podcasting software - External microphone
Procedures: 1) Students will select a piece of African American literature from an approved list provided by me, the classroom teacher. 2) Lessons will follow on interpretive reading techniques, including voice, tone, inflection, articulation, and clarity. 3) Students will manually create appropriate sound effects to accompany the literary selection. 4) Students will be given time to perfect the oral interpretation of their selected literary pieces. 5) Students will then use podcasting software to record interpretive literature. 6) Students will edit podcasts for publishing. 7) Students will publish podcasts for enjoyment by students nationwide. |
