The Promethean Board will be used throughout the school day, ever day. Students do not have access to technology in our school because of the lack of funding and in order to compete in the 21st Century Marketplace, students desperately need to be exposed to a variety of uses for technology. The Promethean Board would be used for Math in order to help students access the learning. It allows for the ease of uploading lessons and making them interactive for the class. Students would be able to come to the "board" and teach each other lessons. They would want the opportunity to teach these lessons because of the high interest in technology. My students want the opportunity to use technology, but they are not given that chance because of the limited amount of funding in the schools. Funds aren't designated for extraneous technology supports; rather, we need to conserve monies to pay for the basic necessities. Students use of technology is often limited to the school, since families are not able to provide this technology to students. If the school is not able to provide this type of education, these students will be ill-equipped to compete in the current world of technology. A sample lesson plan for writing using the Promethean Board : students would be able to come to the board and make actual editing marks on a pre-written story. The use of kinesthetic learning would help cement knowledge for students. Because of the size of the board, I would be able to view students working in small group on writing skills, while teaching a small group using paper and pencil at another station. With the connection to the internet, students would be able to research topics for their learning, while I am able to monitor their searches from around the room. This board would have an immeasurable impact on student learning and the lessons that it would support are innumerable. |
