Goal: $2500.00
Raised: $345.00
We would like our fifth graders to have an opportunity to build their own computers this year. The computer is called the Raspberry PI and was designed to teach students how to build and program their own system. It plugs into any TV or keyboard and was introduced to the public in 2012. Once assembled it resembles a deck of playing cards in size. This PI can be used in electronics projects and for several of the things a desktop PC is capable of doing, such as creating: spreadsheets, word-processing, accessing the Internet and playing games. It also plays high-definition video. We want our students to use the systems they build to conduct research in science, math and history for the remainder of this year and in sixth grade. They will use them to collect data and publish their conclusions on habitat restoration, stream monitoring and salmon projects. Few of our students have working computers and Internet access at home and this project will provide equal access for all of them to the digital world.
