I have been working at WJJMS for 5 years as a computer resource teacher. Part of my job is to be a technology resource for other teachers. I am constantly looking for new ways to incorporate technology into their lessons or encouraging students to visit me in the lab to explore new things. If my lab was equipped for podcasting (podcasting software and digital recorders) I have many ideas I would like to implement:
World Language:
I would like to work with the World Language teachers to set up oral podcast lessons on Itunes that students would be able to download to their IPODS or just listen from home. This would be a great way for them to review for tests. Students could even come into the computer lab during their workshops and set up their own review audio files.
Special Education:
Part of my professional goal this year is to work with small groups of unique learners and to use technology to motivate them to want to produce quality work. My idea for this group is to use digital storytelling to complete a project related to persona values.
Language Arts
Use podcasting to have students speak as one of their characters and discuss certain aspects of the story they are currently reading from the character's viewpoint.
School Website:
Last year we implemented our school website and I would like to add a recorded version of our daily announcements so that parents will be aware of what is gong on in the school. Also we have a Student Spotlight section and my plan is to have one of our Language Arts teachers who is an amazing storyteller - read student's original stories and set them up as audio files on this student spotlight page.

Our computer lab holds 30 computers - my goal is to acquire at least 10 digital voice recorders or microphones to accomodate an average class size of 25 students |
