Clay Animation -

We introduce clay animation with a Creature Comforts video which displays many characters made out of clay and is designed by the same people who produce the Wallace and Grommit videos.

Students begin developing characters and storyline.
Using techniques that they have learned in Art class, students develop and mold their characters out of clay. We begin with creating the clay features because we have found that the storyline and the characters develop as the clay figures are being worked on.

Students write out their storyline.

Once the storyline is developed, students begin taking digital pictures using stop motion animation techniques. Each shot is one motion of the character.

We then use a movie maker software to make our video, setting the timing so each frame moves quickly and the characters come to life.

We can also add narrations, sound and music if desired.

Finally we pop some popcorn and display our videos to the rest of the class!
