Goal: Students will be able to take digital images of shapes in their environment and use the computer create their own shape book.

Students will learn how to hold the camera and take pictures.
Teacher will share different books that include photos to demonstrate shapes.
Teacher will group students into pairs with one camera per two students. This will allow all students to be able to take pictures. A teacher or instructional assistant will assist each group. The students will go on a "shape hunt" through the school and playground areas. They will take pictures of shapes. The teacher will download the pictures on the computer. The students will choose pictures to include in their books that show the different shapes. They will use KidPix to trace and identify the shape in their pictures and print the pictures to make their own shape books.

Follow-Up
The teacher will use the pictures to create a interactive PowerPoint that can be used independently by the students to practice identifying shapes.
