Studets create a photo image, text document and drawing and have this saved on their computer prior to the start of teh lesson.

Begin by having students open MS Word an type in their favorite web site (www.google.com) once the entry has been made an a new line created explain that the text turnd blue because the program knew to create to link to the web site. Have students hover their mouse above the word and the students can view the hyperlink. ctrl + click the workd and the students is taken to the web site they put on the page.

Now have the students type "picture" on the page highlite the word and select insert hyperlink the student can link the picture or drawng they saved to teh word by selecting it and saving. Now teh students can hover the mouse over and ctrl + click and go to the picture.

The same can be done to the text file. Have students discover what other applications or files they can hyperlink to.

Note to the students that the files know what program to use to open the fiel this is association and can be taught in another lesson.
