THE FIRST CLASS: Review note taking proceedures with them. Have them choose their top four topics Assign them one of these topics Have them find the book that goes along with their topic (I usually have these on a reserve shelf) SECOND AND THIRD CLASS ---- RESEARCH FOURTH CLASS-Work on layout for audio piece and power point (on paper) FIFTH CLASS--Go over writing a work cited.
All typing and internet reserach will be done in computer class since the library does not hold enough computers.

AUDIO PIECE: While you end product will be in Power Point, you will need to have an audio piece to it. Please think about your end product. You may take your information you gather and showcase it anyway you want. Examples are: • Poem (s) • Song • Demonstrations of facts (examples showing how a recipe was done, sewing demo-telling about the fabric and job, showing what a blacksmith (or other job) used etc) • Piece of art done in the style of Colonial Art (you would describe the information about your piece of art) • OTHER_________________________________________________________________ Youwill be graded on the amount of information and quality in the demonstration. Please circle or write what form your audio piece will be.
POWER POINT slide layout: POWER POINT GIUDELINES Slide one- who/what your topic is your name and class Slide two-facts about your topic (List ten interesting facts you found out about your topic. Use a table to do five on one side and five on the other) Slide three-why was this topic (job, person business etc) important to the “town” or area Slide four-audio slide Slide five-works cited

We are integrating an audio piece along witha power point this year. In years past the project has been a poster. This is where the flip mino video camera would greatly enhance the audio piece. |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
Computers will be used to do the bulk of the on line research and the power point. Art could be used to make some of the daily needed items or to talk about the colonial art.
Music coudl listen to various compositions of the time period and perhaps learn some of the dances.
Phys Ed could play some of the games of the time. |
Follow-Up |
The Power Points will be placed on the school's website and used in future years. The audio pieces can be burned to one disk and shared to all as a culminating "movie" |
