Students begin by picking a famous American (as the teacher I will read several stories about some famous Americans to the class and have a list of names for those that have a hard time deciding)
Students will then research their person and write a 4 square biography of them.
At the bottom of their biography the students will draw a picture of their person. Information and images are then put into a Powerpoint presentation and once all students are finished the PowerPoints are combined into one and then put into movie maker to make a wmv video file.
At our PTO meeting the students will dress up as their characters and we create a live wax museum with the students modeling and then speaking on the microphone about their character.
This project is also submitted each year at our regional and state STLP (student technology leadership program) competition.
The student's make quizzes about various americans using the CPS student response system to share with the community and other classrooms.
