Students visit the school library once a week and select a chapter book. Students read the chapter book. Instead of a standard book report, students create a script for a Reading Rainbow like book talk.
After the script is developed, students will use the Flip Camera to record their book talk.
Working with the school librarian, these book talks will become a link on the on-line catalogue.
Other students in the school can log-on to the school library to search for a good book to read. These students will be able to watch a book talk that was created by my students. |

| Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
| Students can use the Flip Cameras to create weekly news broadcasts to inform parents about what is happening in the classroom. One reporter for each: Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, Math. These news broadcasts will be published on my teacher web page. |

| Students can create book talks for picture books. Students can read these books with their first grade reading buddies and record/publish the book talks together. |
