As part of our Language Arts unit that focuses on characters’ journeys, students will use animoto.com to create a video that shows a journey they have been on or would like to go on in their life. The video will include images, text, and music, all of which will help describe their journey. I will provide some specific guidelines to help them with ideas for the type of information to include in their videos, such as mode(s) of transportation, distance of journey, stops along the way, items to bring on their journey, feelings about their journey, etc. Each video should include at least 3 images, as well as 5 slides that include descriptive text. Students’ final videos will be posted on our class blog so others can view and comment on them.

Students will also need to write a short description for each image they chose, explaining why they chose this picture of all the images available. Students will also explain why they chose the song for their video.


Cross-Curriculum Ideas
There will also be a Geography/Social Studies focus throughout this unit, as students will be learning about maps, directions, and world geography as they plan their journeys.
Follow-Up
Students will post their videos to our class blog. They will each choose at least 3 of their classmates' videos to view and make constructive comments on.
