The class will read the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series - The Lightning Thief. In this book a normal middle school student discovers that he is half human - half Greek god and is thrown into the world of mythology. After completeing the book students will choose their favorite Greek god or goddess from the book. They will research the myths concerning this character on the Internet. They will compile thier information in a powerpoint presentation that they will show to the class. They will use the Smart board to display this powerpoint presentation. They will also be required to draw a picture of the god or goddess and they will use the document camera to show this to the class during their presentation. This lesson will require students to use information technology to gather information about thier subject, use Microsoft Powerpoint to create their presentation, and use the smart board and document camera to display their presentation.
Materials: Whiteboards, Short Throw Projectors, Projector Screens, Hard Drives, Printers, Flash/USB Drives, Power, Keyboards, Mice, English/Language Arts, Reading, Literacy, Writing, Word Processor, Slideshow, Internet Services, Clip Art
