This tool is for any unit that I teach. a. Example unit: Ecology 1. Do an engagement lab on population size in class. The next day I would use the clicker remote to check if students got the main point and vocabulary introduce in activity. 2. lecture on basic ecology. Within lecture I introduce more diagrams and questions that students can respond too. 3. homework quizzes and vocabulary quizzes. This part would reduce the amount of paper because the questions would be on the screen for each student to answer. 4. Review game- use old diagrams throughout the year to review important diagrams and have students continue to see ideas.
*All these activities require the student to answer some question or survey. The answers for the class immediately shows up as a chart showing students and teacher if the class understood the concept or needs more clarification. The graph is by totals but on the computer each student is individually recorded by name. This could help in identifying struggling students who might need more tutoring.
Students are into using cell phones and technology. These remotes are a way to use this interest to increase engagement in lecture. |
