You will be using several tools to help you with your movie.
1. Internet for research
2. Flip Video Recorder/Digital Camera Video/Bloggie to capture video
3. Music from Soundzabound Library for background music for still pictures
4. Tool Factory Movie Maker to create your final product
Research the following topics relating to the Jr. Iditarod. Record your work in a powerpoint. I have provided a website for you to get your information. If you have extra free time you may also research on your own information related to your slides. You should also be looking for interesting pictures to use along your research journey. Add them to your powerpoint following your informational slides for each topic or save them to your computer as jpeg. You will need these pictures for your final movie!

1. Choose a musher to follow in the Jr. Iditerod at http://www.jriditarod.com/mushers.php

You will be following this musher throughout his/her journey when the Iditarod begins. Include in your powerpoint the musher's name, age, rookie/veteran status, hometown/state, and 2 other related interesting facts. SAVE

2. Read about the equipment needed for the race at http://www.jriditarod.com/pdffiles/JRsledchecksheet.pdf

Include in your powerpoint the mandatory items needed on the sled. Add details describing why the various items are mandatory. You may also add the optional items to your list, but be sure to indicate they are optional. SAVE

3. Read the race rules at

There are 35 rules. Choose 5 rules that surprised you and tell us about them. Why do you think the rule is very important? Include them in your powerpoint. SAVE

Read about the history of the Jr. Iditarod at

Tell us when the first Jr. Iditarod took place, the length of the trail, when it is held, and the starting and stopping points. SAVE

5. Read about the life of sled dogs at:

Include information relating to the life of the dogs in your powerpoint. SAVE

6. Now you may add any more information that YOU would like to your movie. Keep in mind all information must be related to your topic! Add information you find interesting to your powerpoint. SAVE

7. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE reading your information on each slide. A partner will be recording you on a Flip Video Camera or a Digital Camera with Video Recording as you tell us about each of your topics.

8. Record your topics as Video.

9. Copy your Video Clips to the computer.
***Once we start using Tool Factory Moviemaker, we save as a project every time until we are COMPLETELY finished with all editing.

10. Import your Video(s) to Tool Factory Moviemaker

11. Import your pictures to Tool Factory Moviemaker

12. Go to Soundzabound and search for music that you would like added to your final product.

13. Import your music to Tool Factory Moviemaker


14. Now we need to coordinate all your videos, pictures, and sounds together in Tool Factory Moviemaker.

15. Preview, Preview, Preview to make sure you have everything as you would like it.

16. Save as a movie
